CIM - MTL23
CIM's MTL23 event was held at Le Palais des Congrès in Montréal in May 2023. I worked as part of Expert'ease's team, creating visuals for the panoramic screen, LED Banners and LED Pyramids that would be shown during the event. This creative project contained three parts, the plenary sessions that had MTL23's branding, the Awards Gala presented by Caterpillar that had CIM's Award Gala and Caterpillar branding and the Komatsu Gala.

MTL23
We had to create multiple visuals for MTL23's part of the event. Namely a basic plenary look with MTL23 and CIM 125 Years branding, information animation slides for each day of the plenary keynotes displaying the different panelists, keynote speaker and moderator, lower thirds style animation that introduces each panelist with their picture, alongside their name, job title and company they represent/work for, and different sponsor banners and looks for the panoramic screen.
I also created 2 important videos for the panoramic screen: a short historical intro video that would mark the birthday of the institute and a simple loop that would display multiple historical photos while summarizing a bit of CIM's history. That same concept used in the loop was later repurposed as an alternative version to be displayed under Palais des congrès' escalators. Below is the storyboard for the intro video.
CIM's Gala Awards
We had to create multiple visuals for CIM'S GALA AWARDS part of the event. To start off, a basic Gala Awards look that uses the logo of the event and it's visuals fully. Secondly, I had to create a look for during the actual gala ceremony. Since the powerpoint is bright gold, it would clash with the partly gold patterns in the background, I decided to keep the dark blue look throughout the entire background to let the powerpoint presentation flash on it's own rather than distracting the public with intersecting gold shapes in the background. As for the banners, each category had it's own banner to be displayed and further indicate which category the current prizes that were being currently given away was.
Another Look was the "Moulin Rouge", inspired by Paris, the clients wanted a background that showed off paris beautifully. We selected pictures that we would like to show of paris and created a collage that would look great behind the amazing artists performing on the stage.
The last part of visuals that had to be created for this gala night was the Caterpillar sponsor content, as it was the main sponsor for the night. We iterated on different visual concepts until landing on the final 2 that were used during the event: a simple animation of Caterpillar Finning and Tormont logos moving across two LED pyramid structures in a grid-like pattern as well as a dynamic video loop of Caterpillar mining equipment and the theme of “Together, We’re Mining Better” that was also featured in Caterpillar’s introductory video and Resource Industries Group President Denise Johnson’s opening remarks, a Caterpillar campaign, that uses different Caterpillar machinery in action in the pyramids alongside the slogan. The dealer lock-ups were also displayed on the LED banners.
Komatsu Gala
For the Komatsu part of the event, I had to create psychedelic animation loops in the brand colors of Komatsu. I used multiple types of fractal noise animations to create seamless and psychedelic looking animation loops.
